Lee A. Booze-Battle  is the IRB Consultant for the IRB Programs at St. John Hospital and Medical Center since July 2014. She brings with her 15 years of IRB administrative experience. Her experience includes work as an IRB/IBC director, and a Senior Associate Regulatory Analyst at the University of Michigan.

She is a member of the Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R). She holds the Certified IRB Professional (CIP), and a Masters of Public Administration (MPA).

As the IRB Consultant, Lee is responsible for assuring the Institutional Review Board (IRB) meets its primary responsibility of protecting the rights and welfare of human subjects in research. She manages the privileged and confidential institutional review and approval process of all proposed research activities involving human subjects to protect their safety, rights, and welfare. Lee provides training and advice to IRB members and staff, researchers and their staff, and others within the institution on the federal regulations, and upholds federal, state, and local regulatory and hospital requirements that apply to the operation of the IRB. Lee collaborates with other IRBs within the system to develop and provide education to the research community.  She develops administrative and procedural standard operating policies and procedures and applications pertaining to research involving human subjects. Among her duties as the IRB Consultant, she is a voting member of the
SJH&MC IRB and the hospital’s voting member representative on the MCRC OCIRB.
